The ACPE-accredited Fisher Pharm.D. Online pathway from the Wegmans School of Pharmacy at St. John Fisher University offers a high-touch student experience that connects you to a premier pharmacy education from wherever you are.

The hard work and success of our students drives our community forward. At Fisher, we pride ourselves on making teaching a priority, creating a student-centered learning environment, and keeping classes small so you receive the personalized attention you deserve. In our on-campus pathway, this has translated to proven academic excellence: our NAPLEX and MPJE pass rates are the highest in all of New York state.1

This dedication to our students is at the heart of our online program and has guided every decision we’ve made. The result? Engaging coursework that is identical to our on-campus pathway, hands-on clinical training, and service outreach projects that all provide valuable opportunities to develop both inside and outside of the classroom and to make meaningful connections within the Wegmans School of Pharmacy community.

Coursework That Prepares Patient-Centered Pharmacists

Fisher faculty collaborated with a team of experts to design and develop courses that align completely with our on-campus curriculum and were built to meet the needs of online learners. You will master essential pharmaceutical and scientific principles by attending classes and completing didactic lecture-based videos, assignments, and more—on your own schedule.

Experiential Learning

Experiential education is a major component of the clinically-oriented hybrid Pharm.D. pathway, constituting over 30% of the total curriculum. To complement your online classes, you will have plenty of opportunities to engage in hands-on practice in your own community, honing your skills and serving your neighbors before you’ve even graduated.

Clinical Rotations

Gain real-life experience during clinical rotations that help you develop fundamental pharmacy skills in a range of professional settings. You’ll build a network of experienced pharmacy professionals who will mentor you and teach you to provide patient-centered care.

Service Outreach

Service is foundational to the Wegmans School of Pharmacy. You will be able to participate in service opportunities that provide a broad worldview of health care and prepare you to work with diverse and underserved communities. From local outreach efforts on the Fisher campus to mission trips that immerse you in a new culture, we encourage students to engage in meaningful work that instills generosity.

Immersion Experiences

Our in-person, on campus immersions give students opportunities to meaningfully connect with classmates and faculty, and further expand on your classroom learning. Immersions will enable you to complete hands-on activities including labs, compounding, CPR training, immunization training and more.

Placement in or Near Your Community

Dedicated placement specialists will work with you to help find and secure suitable placements near your community that meet our high standards for excellence. Our partnerships with leading pharmacies throughout the country facilitate placement and ensure you graduate prepared to take the next steps to become a well-rounded pharmacist and impact patient lives — in a retail, hospital, community, or private-practice setting.

Our team will help you secure faculty-approved locations for both experiential, or clinical rotation, education requirements: Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE) and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE).

  • Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences must be completed in your second and third years and will give you a strong foundation in fundamental skills needed for work as a pharmacist.
  • Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences must be completed in your fourth year and will challenge you to apply the concepts you have learned and to demonstrate the skills needed to prepare to become a practicing pharmacist.

During your clinical rotations, you will receive real-time feedback from faculty and preceptors.
